Do It Scared: My New Mantra

If you were to meet me, you would never know that I am an introvert, needing lots of quiet time, and that I have anxiety about social interactions and public speaking. I hide it well…at least on most occasions…at least I think so…I don’t seem nervous, do I?

See how slippery that slope is?

But I’ve learned that for me (which is NO surprise) that practice makes it easier. The first essential oils class I taught was in my dining room with 3 supportive friends who genuinely wanted to learn. I was SCARED!! Months later I did my first online class – video camera and all! I couldn’t do it live, but I prerecorded it with my friend. I was SCARED!!!

When I look back on that time, I am so glad that I put on my Valor Essential Oil Blend and mustered up the courage to move out of my comfort zone and to just “do it scared.”

Now I conduct monthly workshops at my local library with complete strangers attending, share my vulnerable side with the world via this blog, teach many different styles of workshops and classes, and I was just interviewed for a local online publication.

This interview was new territory for me – those feelings of fear were bubbling up again. But I wasn’t going to let it stop me. Again, I put on my essential oils and did it scared! And the end result is this amazing article. I’d love for you to take a moment to read it and see what can be accomplished when you do it scared.

I’d love to hear your stories of when you did it scared! Was it interviewing for a new job? Striking up a conversation with a stranger? Going to the beach with your kiddo as a new mom?  Just comment below!
