Cucumber Lime Sparkler

For all the good reasons, I’ve stopped stocking soda in our fridge for a few years now. That includes soda, sugary sparkling drinks, and sports drinks. I don’t want my kids to grow up drinking soda. It’s just not a commodity in my house. They don’t really ask for it – just occasionally have a few within a year. There are so many health risks such as cavities, diabetes, and obesity that’s linked to sugar. Did you know there are about 10 teaspoons of sugar in an 8 oz soda along with all the food coloring? It can be challenging to get them to drink more water as it does get kind of boring, but adding natural flavors to your beverage makes hydrating an easy and fun task.

Here is a flavorful and refreshing sparkling recipe that my family enjoys. It’s so easy to make and it adds the fun back into consuming more liquid to keep hydrating.

Cucumber is packed with beta carotene, vitamin C, potassium, and flavonoids shown to have antioxidant powers that can provide key health benefits.

Young Living’s Lime Vitality™ essential oil is Non-GMO Projected Verified and is made from cold pressed fresh lime peels. Adding just a few drops of this highly concentrated oil gives a bright burst of flavor to your recipe.

Cucumber Lime Sparkler

2 Liters Unflavored Sparkling Water
1 thinly sliced English Cucumber (seedless)
8-10 drops of Young Living Lime Vitality™ essential oil
3 c. Ice

Combine sparkling water, English cucumber, Lime Vitality essential oil, and ice. Mix well and serve!

And for those of you so inclined, feel free to pour a bit of gin or vodka in your glass before topping it off with the Cucumber Lime Sparkler. Just make sure you don’t mix up your glass with your kid’s glass!
